Continuous miner pre-start checks

Before operating a continuous miner, the available source documents require the operator to:

1. Complete and record a pre-operational inspection before each shift. The check includes emergency stops, guards, water sprays and methane-monitoring interfaces.1
2. Report and isolate safety-critical defects. The machine must not return to service until an authorised person has assessed and rectified the defect.2
3. Retain the completed inspection record with the shift production record so it remains available to supervisors and statutory officials.3

These sources do not replace the mine's current site-specific pre-start checklist. Follow the approved site procedure if it imposes additional checks.
